Seaworld is amazing because they really seam to try to give back from what you give. So sure, the tickets can be pricy, but Hey, you are saving the wales. Ok, I guess I am not the biggest green peace advocate... but it is a good thing to take care of the animals. Remember, this whole operation was originally started not as a theme park but as a service to our world's animals. The classic star of the show is shamu at sea world. It is pretty amazing to see these giant, beautiful animals leap out of the water along with dolphins. Also, your kids will love the splash zone just remember to wear waterproof shorts! Besides that, they do provide some amazing nightly fireworks show during the summer months. 
I have spent many a free date night on the various beaches around mission bay watching the fireworks. My best suggestion is to get there early, reserve a firepit, and make a night out of it. The park itself is full of fun, with attractions that could take days just to explore. However, just around the corner there are plenty of other options to eat and play. Take a nice kayak ride in the bay. Hang out at mission beach and ride on the old wooden roller coaster.
