San Diego Padres Stadium - Petco Park

The San Diego Padres Stadium at Petco Park is located right in the beautiful gas lamp district of downtown. So close to the beautiful big bay that when the Padres win the fireworks can be seen over the water. Public transportation is available with the trolley station walking distance to the stadium.

What you need to know about Petco Park.

When heading out to a night at Petco Park, there are a few things you may want to bring. Remember, the San Diego Padres stadium is located right by the bay. The stadium can get cold at night as the ocean breeze makes its way over. Though San Diego has one of the most beautiful climates of any city, the nights do warrant a light jacket. For afternoon games you should be fine in a tea shirt.

The history of Petco Park is a recent one. The MLB baseball team shared Qualcomm stadium with the chargers all the way till the opening of the padres stadium in 2004. The San Diego baseball stadium cost over 250 million to construct and was the source of controversy, which held the opening back two years.

The park is located at 100 Park Blvd downtown. Parking can be a really big issue. My best advice for parking at petco park is to make a night out of it and park in the gas lamp for dinner and then walk to the padres game for there. Remember that meters in downtown are free after 6pm and on sundays and holidays. You can also take the trolley to a padres game and it is free on holidays as well.
